Mendocino Music Festival, Jul 12-26
. Enjoy extraordinary music in a spectacular setting, under the big white tent in the Mendocino Headlands State Park, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Classical Orchestra, jazz, Argentine tango, big band, bluegrass, R&B, opera, ballet, and more sail over the ocean. Audubon Society Beginning Bird Walk, Aug 2, Sep 6. Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens is a perfect setting for the beginning bird watchers; tour begins at 9am and fee is included with Gardens admission. Location: 18220 N. Highway 1, Fort Bragg.

UKIAH – Events:
Sundays in the Park, through August
. This free summer concert series sponsored by the City of Ukiah features a variety of performers and styles of music at Todd Grove Park, every Sunday from June-August.

Fabulous Flashback Car Show and Poker Run, Sep date TBA. The Early Iron of Ukiah Pre-59 Car Club presents this event, with music, dancing, food and, of course, beautiful classic cars.
Ukiah Country PumpkinFest, Oct date TBA. Lots to do here, including a kid’s carnival, arts and crafts fair, fiddle contest, scarecrow city, continuous live music and more.

FORT BRAGG – Skunk Train Barbecue to Northspur, May 24-Aug 31. This 4 ½-hour evening ride in the redwoods offers a delicious barbecue dinner and live entertainment. (Saturday trips include fresh salmon, when available). It’s a great family experience! Trains depart Fort Bragg Depot at 3:30pm on Tuesday thru Friday. Cost: $65 adult, $35 child; Saturday Trips: $70 adult, $35 child.

Paesano Days and Bocce Tournament, Aug 1-2
. This 2-day festival of Italian heritage features a spaghetti feed, live music with dancing, food vendors, games, craft booths, raffles, and bocce ball tournaments. Location: Anderson River Park. Admission is free.

Stillwater Pow Wow, Sep 12-14. This three-day event gives participants a chance to honor their heritage and share their talents and culture with spectators. Performers from across the West are featured and vendors sell American Indian arts, crafts and food. Location: Shasta District Fairgrounds, Anderson. Admission: $2-$3. Hours Sat 10am-midnight and Sun from 10am-5pm.

Ducky Derby, Sep 28. Rotary clubs sell numbered toy ducks, which are dropped at 3pm in the Sacramento River for a “race” down river. Big prizes for winners. Location: Lake Redding Park. Admission is free; $5 duck adoption fee. Event raises funds to fight substance abuse.

Shasta Dragonwood Celtic Renaissance Faire, Oct 4-5. Five acres of continuous entertainment on 4 stages as well as merchants, actors, jousting, sword fighting, children’s games, jugglers, magicians, minstrels, food and beverage vendors. The Harvest Festival is based on Gretna Green, Scotland in 1563. Location: Anderson River Park. Admission: $5-$10.

photoRED BLUFF – 6th Annual Miniature Donkey Show, Sep 12-14. See 80-120 miniature donkeys, a drill team of donkeys pulling carts to honor 9-11 with flags and patriotic music. There are halter classes and performance classes such as trail, jumping and driving (barrels, poles and keyhole). Location: Tehama County Fairgrounds.
