LA JOLLA'S BIRCH AQUARIUM High above the rocky coastline of northern San Diego you can find a colorful and exciting collection of fish and other marine life that thrive in the waters along the Pacific Coast of North America. It is here, at the Birch Aquarium at Scripps in La Jolla, that visitors can get up-close and personal with more than 5,000 denizens of the deep, and shallow, coastal waters. The aquarium is the public exploration center for world-renowned Scripps Institution of Oceanography at U.C. San Diego. Every year, more than 370,000 visitors are treated to this amazing variety of sea life. There are 380 plus species of fishes and invertebrates displayed in more than 60 lifelike habitats.
